2017 Paint Color Trends
Benjamin Moore has announced their color of the year called “Shadow”. It’s on the purple spectrum with dark dusky shades of violet with grey under tones. Or as its explained here by Ellen O’Neill, Creative Director:
“It ebbs and flows with its surroundings, and light brings it to life. Rich, royal amethyst can fade into the soft lilac-grey of distant mountains or morph into lustrous coal. Indulge your mysterious side. Let Shadow set the mood.” - Ellen O’Neill, Creative Director

Of course, each of the paint manufactures have their own opinions as to what’s best. Behr has broken it down into three color pallets. Based on dusky blues, earthy greens and pale pastels. You can check out their suggestions here.
The Pantone Institute has announced their choice as color of the year, Greenery.
“Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment. Satisfying our grown desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.” Leatrice Eiseman – Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.
Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate. Greenery is nature’s neutral according to the Pantone Institute. To learn more from the Pantone Institute and color pairings for Greenery follow the link here.
